Robert Spalding is a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, where he focuses on U.S.-China relations, economic and national security, and the Asia-Pacific military balance. Mr. Spalding has served in senior positions of strategy and diplomacy within the Defense and State Departments for more than 26 years. Prior to joining the Hudson Institute, Mr. Spalding worked as Senior Director for Strategy to the President, ultimately becoming the chief architect of the framework for national competition in the Trump administration’s National Security Strategy (NSS). Most recently, he is the author of Stealth War: How China Took Over While America’s Elite Slept.
