Dr. Joseph Bottum is an essayist, poet, author of short stories, and writer of song lyrics. He has also published several books, including An Anxious Age: The Post-Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of America (2014) and most recently The Decline of the Novel (2019). Dr. Bottum is best known for his writings about literature, American religion, and politics. In 2014, Mary Eberstadt wrote in National Review that “his name would be mandatory on any objective short list of public intellectuals” in the United States. Today, Dr. Bottum is the director of The Classics Institute and a philosopher of Cyber-Ethics at Dakota State University.
