Dr. Franz Baumann is a visiting professor at New York University, where he focuses on the governance of climate change. Prior to entering academia, he worked for the United Nations for over 30 years in many places and capacities. As Assistant Secretary-General, his last assignment was special advisor on the Environment and Peace Operations. Today, Dr. Baumann is also a Senior Fellow and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hertie School in Berlin, a member of the Board of Directors of the Academic Council on the United Nations System, and a member of the Board of Advisers of the Centre for United Nations Studies at the University of Buckingham (England).
